~Terms that Confuse Everyone~
(taken from D12W's website)
KEY - Many clubbers don’t know that the KEY in Key Club actually means something. Kiwanis-EducatedYouth. Every Key Club is sponsored and helped by their local Kiwanis Club, which is basically the same as Key Club except with older age groups.
CK - In case you were wondering, no, it’s not Key Club backwards. CK is Circle K. Circle K is basically the Key Club in colleges. After we graduate from high school, the next step up is Circle K so make sure you join in college!
CNH - CNH stands for Cali-Nev-Ha, or California-Nevada-Hawaii. Our division as well as all of our neighboring schools and divisions are all in this three-state district.
DCM - Each month our LTG holds a DCM, or a Divisional Council Meeting. Different schools host DCMs as a way to socialize and get business done.
DCON - The infamous DCON is also known as the annual District Convention. Each year Key Clubs from all over Cali-Nev-Ha come together to learn and hang out. This year’s DCON will be held in Sacramento with the theme of “Back to the Bee-ginning.”
FRN - Another major event is FRN, or Fall Rally North. Everyone in northern California goes to the rally at Six Flags Marine World where we have a blast and auction off our LTGs and District Board members.
ICON - ICON is pretty much the same as DCON except on a much higher and exclusive level. ICON is also known as the annual INTERNATIONAL convention where LTGs and other board members travel to places such as Orlando, Florida to discuss the wonders of Key Club and have an awesome time.
IP - IP, or Immediate Past, is normally another label given to previous position holders. For example, our IP LTG is Jerome Ma (UCLA).
LTG - LTG stands for Lieutenant Governor, or in our case Leslie Liao. LTGs are responsible for an entire division, meaning they are higher in authority than every president, vice president, etc. They work directly with the District Board and represent their divisions at events such as FRN and DCON.
MRF - Most of you don’t have to worry about these Monthly Report Forms. It is just a document written by club secretaries recording the clubs progress and activities over the past month.
OTC - OTC, or Officer Training Conference is held each summer at the beach. Region 5 (12 East, 12 South, 34) gets together to hang out and have friendly divisional competitions.
RTC - The Regional Training Conference will be held at the end of September. RTC is an overnight camp retreat in the Santa Cruz mountains where any Key Clubber can spend time and represent his or her club. This is much like DCON, but on a smaller scale.
