April 20, 2009-Pennies Results are out!

Finally, after almost 2 months of endless pennies, the results are out! This year Mrs. McCarthy and the Board decided to do something new. Instead of just honoring the 2nd period class who had the most penny points, there will be another honoring of the 2nd period class who raised the most money in total. This offers two ways to win this competition; they decided to award people who have the spirit of competition and those who have the spirit of raising money for the Pennies for Patients fundraiser.

Most Raised Penny Points - Ms. Holden's 2nd period [Band] 69.60

Most Raised in Total - Mr. Oderman's 2nd period [AP Gov] $98.74

In Total: $1,005.35

Thank-you everyone for helping out, we raised over a thousand dollars!!!!

April 3-5, 2009-DCON

During the weekend, club president and vice president Cynthia and Cherelle went to Key Club's annual District Convention in Anaheim this year. DCON happens once a year at a selected location and our California-Nevada-Hawaii district comes together to celebrate a year of hard work and to award those who worked their hardest. This year Leigh's Key Club was awarded with an Outstanding Website and we earned a patch to put upon our flag. Pictures and videos are posted under the Visual tab. If you'd like more information on what DCON is click TTK. Maybe it'll prompt you to go next year, it's in Sacramento, CA!

December 10, 2008- Kiva + Christmas Tree Lot

At today's meeting we had Matthew Katawicz  give us a presentation on Kiva, a mirco-lending organization. Being able to extend our help to people in other countries is truely amazing and we Key Clubbers thank Matthew for informing us of Kiva. Besides the informative powerpoint, we also discussed the Christmas Tree Lot! We have the all the shifts starting today in the Volunteer Opp. section, check out which shift you're on or sign-up for a shift or two. If you'd like to sign-up or have any questions email Kathrina Alquiza.

December 8, 2008- UNICEF Results + Membership Dues

Decemeber means the year is almost over! Before that happens Key Club has several things to do, for example, we have the UNICEF results in and a winner for the Student of the Month. Christine Benik has raised over $50 alone! Amazing! We also have 14 other members who have contirbuted to UNICEF and we would like to recognize you at our meeting on the 10th. Membership dues are overdue!!!!!! Please, we beg you to turn them in! We don't want you to contribute with your best when we will be unable to recognize you because you're not a member. Please turn in your dues on Wednesday, just remember no dues = no pizza too. Under TTK or Things to Know, the list of members that have paid are listed, check if you have paid or not. The list of members who have contributed to UNICEF will also be listed there too. Till Wednesday, bye-bye!

October 8, 2008- UNICEF + Halloween Party~

It is October already and this means UNICEF! UNICEF is an organization that Key Club International helps every year around Halloween in trick-or-treat boxes. Key Club has helped raised over a $1,000,000 to this organization that helps provide "lifesaving help for children in need." This year we are once again participating in the TRICK-OR-TREAT FOR UNICEF, you are given a box and you bring it with you when trick or treating. Ask people if they would donate any change they have for UNICEF which stands for United Nations Children's Fund. But, before we go out on Halloween night, October 25th we are co-hosting a Halloween Party with the Senior Women's Club. Details will be posted up on Oct. 14th. Hope you can make it to the party and the Key Club meeting tomorrow!

September 28, 2008- Return From RTC

Cynthia, Kathrina, Vicky and I have returned from the Regional Training Conference (RTC) this weekend, we all stayed at an overnight camp from Saturday noon till Sunday noon. We all had a blast bonding with our schools from the regions, bonds that will carry over to Fall Rally North (FRN) this October 25th at Great America. Many new friends were made and ideas were created in the multiple workshops and on Saturday we danced till midnight! There was a night walk to the Indian Campfire further into the woods, where everyone performed a skit with their groups. Pictures have been uploaded here-RTC. We encourage everyone to attend FRN, it is only $25 and $5 of that 25 goes to the Pediatic Trauma Prevention fundraiser. Our goal this year is $60,000 double from last year! Troopers let's get some fundraising done! See you all at Wednesday's meeting!

September 17, 2008-Poster Meeting

Today we had a meeting for making posters for the Club Fair which will be happening at the end of Spetember. We hope to recruit many more members and from what I saw today, we already have many new members! We celebrated the beginning of Key Club with pizza from our Kiwanian Advisor Nora, thank-you! Unfortunately, we were unable to make alot of posters during lunch, BUT we are going to make more posters and hang them up during lunch on Thursday and Friday this week. If you would like to come help us come into Rm 69 and make sure to put your name on the SIGN-UP sheet that is on the Key Club wall. You will obtain hours for volunteering your time with the posters, so come and help out the Key Club! Today I had passed out the MEMBERSHIP DUE FORM, yet, I didn't have enough for everyone that came! So, there will be copies tomorrow in Rm 69 or I have posted the file under FORMS on the site for you to print out at home. The Calendar has been updated with some new information, so check that out. If you would like to see the agenda for today's meeting click here.
